Darren Chen was born on the 15th of January, 1995. His hometown is Taipei where he also attended kindergarten through high school. The one high school Darren graduated from is Heping High School - about 50 kilometers east of Taoyuan International Airport - TPE - and that is about 1.25 hour drive apart. His family information regarding parents and siblings is unknown although some sources said he might have a sister. Darren has once said he likes food cooked by his mother the most. Darren Chen also goes by Kuan-Hung, denoted 官鸿 [Guān Hóng] in Manderin Chinese.

After high school, it was said that while out on the streets Darren was spotted by a producer. At the time Darren thought the producer was probably looking for his friend, not Darren himself. After the unexpected encounter, he was invited to the studio for a screen-test after which a role in show business emerged.

Darren's first acting role was in a youth fantasy drama titled Proud of Love that ran two seasons. Then it was said that out of a little more than 30,000 applicants, he made it to the casting of the youth inspirational drama Meteor Garden 2018 - an adaption of the internationally well-known TV Series Boys Over Flowers - in November 2017. The subsequent press conference in Shanghai revealed that Darren would portray Huaze Lei, a member of the boy-group F4 in the story. On July 9th, 2018 the first episode of Meteor Garden was aired. Although being the second lead, Darren Chen and his character became sensational figures among youth audiences on the international stage. The second lead syndrome is real.

In 2020 and 2021, Darren was booked for leading roles in several television dramas such as The Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty, My Unicorn Girl, No Boundary, etc. He finished filming them all - during the pandemic! many props for Darren! It looked like Darren eventually got the cold and was in quarantine for a while, thankfully he overcame and recovered.
